MILF: Andre 3000

If there’s one thing we like here at Cliterati, it’s a man who’s talented enough to embrace his creativity on a multitude of levels – and in Andre ‘Dre’ Benjamin we’ve found a superb Muso We’d Like To… He really is the perfect package (in more ways than one!).

Hat-wearing multi-instrumentalist, producer, rapper, singer, artist, actor and style guru with his clothing range Benjamin Bixby, Atlanta-born Andre is the Dennis Rodman of alternative hiphop: confident and flamboyant, he delights in embracing his colourful side, be it in music or fashion. Benjamin is also a vegetarian who campaigns for animal rights, and a political activist when it comes to encouraging the younger voters to have their voices heard: his 2008 David LaChappelle shot for the Declare Yourself campaign shows Andre gagged by a bow tie, tearful and silenced.

However, Mr 3000 is perhaps best known for his work as one half of Outkast, working with High School buddy Big Boi. Their 2000 hit ‘Ms Jackson’ (on the album ‘Stankonia’) made them a household name, and ‘The Way You Move/ Hey Ya!’ mix (compiled from their double album ‘Speakerboxx/ The Love Below’) introduced Polaroid pictures to a whole new generation of digi kids. Dre Baby, for this alone we salute you.
