Fierce, Proud, Subversive is how I would describe recent Graduate Dayne Henderson, who showed London Fetish Week what his view of the future would be. This rebellious conceptual collection pivots on the themes of identity and segregation. Masks feature heavily, with personal identity eradicated, yet beautifully re-expressed by the personality of the clothing.
Dayne’s aesthetics are hugely influenced by the legend Leigh Bowery…the sense that the wearer has the power to dictate what is revealed and hidden, what is obvious and what is to be questioned. Unabashed and strong, they dare you to challenge your expectations.
Dayne’s interest in high fashion is apparent in the contrast of figure hugging fit and sculptural draping. But contrastingly to the fashion world the fetish scene allows Dayne to be truly creative and boundless in his concepts and design. Latex is a medium well served by Daynes creative designs and in his own words “…. I wouldn’t tame a thing.. Show the Fashionistas how the Fetishistas do it!”
Can’t wait to see the next Collection!
