After the publication of the Top 100 Sex Bloggers list of 2012 I have had quite few people ask me what my list would look like. In the past I have decided against publishing such a list for a number of different reasons, although I did write the Kiss of the Week project which I guess was an early version of my then favourite reads. (some of whom have remained that way to this day) However it would seem that people are interested and so I have decided to finally write my own list.
I have not gone for a top one hundred as I wanted it to be a genuine reflection of MY top blogs and although I read a serious amount of different blogs it would be incorrect to say that I read 100 on a regular basis. The list is not in any particular order hence there are no numbers, but I have included a few words about why I have chosen each one and also a link to their twitter profile, if they have one. They are not all sex blogs in the strict sense of the word, although most of them are, but more my regular reads that I wanted to acknowledge.
Putting the list together has been a very interesting process for me and it is not something I have rushed either as I have been working on it now for the best part of 6 weeks. One thing I have come to realise though is that I am a very visual person. I love the written word but I think maybe I love a great image even more.
So here we go my top 20 blogs of 2012
When I started compiling this list there were a few blogs that automatically jumped straight on and this is one of them. I love this blog for its sheer and often blunt honesty and because this a woman who is not afraid of her sexuality or her sluttery, quite the opposite in fact, she wallows in it. I often describe her on twitter as my slut hero and I stand by that statement here too. @iSlut_
Jade is currently in the process of a massive redesign of her blog and so at the moment she only has a homepage for you to view but hopefully it won’t be long before she is back to her usually kinky, sexy, dirty Jade self. Jade has a fascinating life which centres around her MMF relationship and a bit like A Slut’s Memoir she is power house of slutty kinky behaviour that she blogs about with honesty, humour and intelligence. @Pieces Of Jade
Just go and look, seriously, just do it! You will not be disappointed. In my opinion she is one of the most talented photographers of our time and is quite frankly one of the undiscovered talents of the world. I hope one day she gets the fame and fortune she deserves. Her work is a constant source of amazement and inspiration to me and if one day I am half the photographer she is then I will be very proud.
I think Rebel and I might have been twins separated at birth, certainly in the kink/submissive department anyway. I rarely read her work and don’t find some part of myself reflected back at me. As well as this I am also a big fan of those who try to nurture and develop the sex blogging community and Rebel has done this with her Wicked Wednesday meme. Oh and we are about to embark on our 101 things in 1001 days list together. @Rebelsnotes
Rori’s blog was one the very first blogs I started to read way back when I first discovered sex blogging however I am including her on my list for her amazing 100 Top Sex Bloggers list. Regardless of whether you agree with her list or not compiling it every year is no mean feat and must take hours of her time and is a wonderful resource to both the sex blogging community and our consumers. @SweetRori
Not a sex blog but nevertheless an addiction of mine. I wrote about this project HERE when I was featured on it a few months back. I love this blog because it is life, it is you and me and everyone else. Each day we are treated to a slice of human life and as with all human life it is fascinating stuff @SOTMario
Again another blog that I have been reading for a long time now. Written by Mina and Sylvanus; a married couple who blog openly and honestly about their open marriage. This is well written stuff that never shuns from the complicated and challenging parts of their relationship and life whilst also celebrating their truly wonderful love and dedication to one another. @sylvanus @mydesire
The first of the Tumblr blogs on my list and one of my favourite photography blogs. I look at her images and they make me want to be a better photographer. She regularly inspires me to reach for my own camera with her simple clean style that constantly produces a wealth of beautiful images. @SugarHipsLebeau
Another self-portrait project on Tumblr that I adore. A breathtaking series of intimate and often graphic images of a woman in her 50’s. A true testament to the fact that beauty and sex are not purely the domain of the young. Her project is brave and bold and she is another woman who has inspired me to be more accepting of my own body.
Another regular read of mine although she often makes my poor brain ache she also always makes me think and as for her Erotica, you won’t find better than this anywhere on the net in my opinion. @remittancegirl
A Tumblr project “based around the theme of the female form, curated by Julia Kozerski”. A truly stunning collection of a myriad of different images of the female form featuring woman of all ages, shapes, sizes, colour and culture. This really is a true celebration of the diversity and beauty of women. @JuliaKozerski
I love this blog, everything about it is beautiful. It is a perfect marriage between words and images. Her self-portrait photography is constantly of the highest standard and her writing is filled with passion, longing and eroticism. Yet again another blogger who regularly inspires me to reach for my own camera. @LoveHateSexCake
Without a shadow of a doubt the best author blog on the internet. (unless you include the above mentioned Remittance Girl but they have very different styles and content) Shelby is the author of a series of kink novels called The Hotel Bentmore Series but it is her novella The Taming of Red Riding that I adore. Her blog is not like other author blogs who seem to get bogged down in writing about writing and marketing their books and everyone else’s in their little writing gang. Shelby’s blog is NOTHING like that. It is an honest read of a woman in a 1950’s D/s marriage who is also an author. She talks about marriage, kink, parenting, writing, life, love, sex, and depression to name just a few topics. Her views on life are well observed, told with intelligence and thought and often a twist of humour that will regularly have me snorting with laughter as I read. @Shelby_Cross
If someone can please explain to me why this man does not have a publishing deal I want to hear it. I have been reading his work for a long time now and the standard never ever slips and nor, does it seem, the regular output. He has a habit of often writing stories that end with a twist, something I think he is particularly good at; his characters, especially those in his ‘series’ are always well crafted. There is ton of reading material here… plenty to keep you going for a very long time. @stranded_in_to
A new discovery of mine in the last few months that I found from the Top 100 Sex Bloggers list. In their own words “VAGINA ANTICS is the sex-positive blog and podcast dream child of Nikki Blue and Heather Cole, two divorced over-thirty-something women who love sex almost as much as they love each other.” They have only been blogging a year but seem to have really hit the ground running. I am looking forward to seeing where the year ahead takes them. @Nikki_Blue1 @Heather_Cole1
A blog I first discovered through Sinful Sunday which has become a regular read of mine. Written by Evoe it covers all sorts of sex, sexuality, kink and relationship based subjects and is written with a keen eye and strong intelligent voice. They are also talented photographers with a very creative eye who clearly adore having fun both in front of and behind the camera. @wholesexlife
It seems that most of my reading material reflects by own kink and sexuality and is fairly heavily weighted towards female submission but not this one. Written by a dominant female it chronicles her journey into kink, her relationship with her submissive partner and her thoughts and views on being both kinky and dominant. There is great mix of content here but it is her humorous outlook on life, her honest accounts of her D/s relationship, mistakes and all, and her ability to find the funny in all sorts of situations that I like. If you don’t know her blog then I suggest you start with her “About Me” page and go from there. @DumbDomme
Only the second blog on my list to be written exclusively by a man. Also a long-term read of mine that flip-flops in a rather endearing way around a myriad of different subjects. He inspired me to start my own 365 project and regularly has me reaching for my own camera in response to seeing his work. @Hubman38
Another well written blog laced with humour and honesty from a young woman determined to show that girls like and even more importantly crave sex just as much as boys. She has a great writing style and lovely way with words that I always enjoying reading. @girlonthenet
I think this blog is an undiscovered gem of the sex blogging world. If you are looking for well written short story erotica then you need look no more as this is your answer. The ability to tell a good story in short form is harder than you think but in my opinion Curious Muse has a true skill at telling intricate, passionate, beautiful tales in just a few short words. @curiousmuse1
So there you have it….
If you are not on the list I hope you are not upset, it is not because I don’t think your blog is great, because I probably do, but just that there are only so many reading hours in the day and I wanted my list to truly reflect my most regular reading/viewing habits. To be honest I think the sex blogging community is jammed packed with a whole host of diverse talent making the reader spoilt for choice but hopefully this list might help you to discover someone new to add to your regular sex blogging diet. If you disagree with my list I won’t be offended, it is after all my list of what I read most regularly and if you think I have it wrong then why not make your own one? The reason for writing this list is to acknowledge the people on it and to share with my readers some of the places I like to visit in the blogging world.
