Toy Review: Blue Heaven Glass Dildo

BLUE HEAVEN

Beautiful. Simply stunning. These were my first thoughts upon opening the box from A Touch Of Glass and removing the Blue Heaven from the satin storage pouch it had arrived in. Without a doubt, I have a real weakness when it comes to glass dildos; well they’re just so wonderfully delicate looking, each one is like an erotic piece of art, but the irony is that you end up being far from delicate when it comes to using them!

Good job then that all of the pleasure objects sold by A Touch of Glass are made from borosilicate – a resilient, body safe, lead-free crystal glass. Although this isn’t a review of the company as a whole, it’s worth taking a moment to read up about A Touch of Glass. It explains a lot about how and why they offer such gorgeous items, why all products come with a lifetime warranty and why you may not have seen items quite like these on any of the main sex toy retailer sites.

No stranger to G-spot glass dildos, none of them are shaped quite like the Blue Heaven; all of them conform to the more traditional, bulbous, penis-head with a curve. The Blue Heaven, however, boasts a finger-shaped tip with a gentler curve, so you get that more realistic come-hither action. This thinner, more fluid design, coupled with the attractive midnight blue colour, certainly makes it look more appealing than obviously phallic glass pleasure objects.

Beyond the finger curve is a thinner, central section and then at the other end – the handle end if you like – are two smooth orbs. The total length of the Blue Heaven is 8.5 inches and (in theory) there’s an insertable length of 7.5 inches. Basically most of the toy. However, upon testing and being a petite woman shall we say, trying to use the whole length in one go, coupled with the curve of the finger and the firmness of the glass, actually felt uncomfortable.

Instead, just go up to where you’re comfortable. Yes, the Blue Heaven looks beautiful with lots of fun things to try all the way down the shaft, but you don’t have to do it all in one go. If, like me, you find that length of hard glass more painful than pleasing, yet you still want to enjoy the fuller feeling of the orbs, simply turn the dildo around. Granted, the flat base at the handle end isn’t the ideal shape for insertion, but with a bit of our friend lube, it’s easy and safe to push in and it quickly becomes more about how amazing the orbs feel anyway!

When it comes to G-Spot stimulation, I’m yet to find a glass dildo that works as effectively as the Blue Heaven. The finger end has a tapered shape, which works beautifully to tickle and tease that most sensitive of spots.

To get the most out of the Blue Heaven in terms of G-Spot stimulation, use a back and forth motion, pushing upwards slightly. Again, imagine you’re beckoning with your index finger, gently and slowly. Obviously, every woman is gloriously different. For me, no more than the tip of the Blue Heaven needed to be inserted to hit the G-Spot. There is the option though for deeper penetration if needed, as we know the length is more than adequate. For an extra intense orgasm, couple with your favourite bullet vibe for some extra clit stim.

After testing solo and with a partner, the only extra feature that could be added to Blue Heaven is some sort of marking near the base, so you/your lover knows which way the tip is pointing. With lube everywhere and in the throes of passion, it’s easy for the Blue Heaven to spin around and you loose the feel of that beautiful curve on your sweet spot. Not that the back side is bad, but it feels noticeably better when the curve is pushing up, rather than down. A simple groove or textured mark so you can see or feel which way it’s facing will fix this.

Another perk to glass is how easy it is to clean. Simply wash in warm, soapy water and dry, or wipe over with an antibacterial wipe/spray. This beautiful boudoir pleasure object is then ready to go for another night of passion.

The Blue Heaven costs £60.99 from A Touch of Glass (www.theglassdildoshop.com)
