The Micro dolphin certainly doesn't look like a normal toy. I eyed it with trepidation when it arrived. This four inch long dolphin shaped toy resembles nothing more than a dolphin-shaped wind up toy of the type that swim merrily along aside you in the bath. The fins worried me slightly - surely small wing shaped plastic protruberances are not condusive to a comfortable session of self love? But, nothing ventured, nothing gained, I gave it a go.

The first time I tried it, it was out of the bath. It was about as much use as a fish out of water. It vibrated well enough (just twist the tail to get it going) but the shape just didn't suit and it was quite noisy.However, it was designed for aiding a sensual soak so I figured that testing it in its natural habitat had to be done. I ran myself a bath, poured a glass of wine and settled down to test it. What a difference a bit of water makes! The handy wrist-strap stopped it from escaping and the water deadened the buzz to quite subtle levels. As it nudged its way into all the right places, I began to see the point of this toy. Not being a great fan of wanking in the bath - it's such a Hollywood cliche - I didn't expect it to do the trick. I was very pleasantly surprised.Best of all, the subtle design means that you really can't tell it's a sex toy, so it's now nestling happily amongst my toiletries in the bathroom; not something I'd dare to do with a more traditionally shaped toy.The Micro dolphin is available from Lovehoney priced £14.95.
